Silkie thread!

I am thinking they are clean faced. I ordered the eggs on ebay and hatched 3 out 12 eggs with a cheap china incubator never again.. Before spring I will have a better incubator. I hatched out 5 turkeys and 10 chicken 3 of them were silkies. I have 5 Rhode Island reds one is a roo MY BABIES they are 7 months old and laying eggs like crazy, 4 barred rock bantam all hens, they are laying humming bird size eggs lol, and 5 Heinz 57 ( mixed breeds), 2 guineas and 2 Muscovy ducks my little back yard farm lol
awesome! I'd love to try and hatch some chicks. But I'm already over my limit for chickens so i can't get any more. I will have to get my number down soon and i can't decide who to keep and who to give away. I love them all. I only have 11! That can't possibly be too many. Lol!

I live in a rural area with some neighbors. The only thing my neighbors ever complain about is the guineas they are loud but every one is getting used to it. It is easy to love these guys. What is great is hatching chickens and coming up with different color fases. I have one chicken that is absolutely gorgeous she is 4 months old and is white with some black markings I have no idea where that came from because she is a offspring to one of mine that has no white on her at all. The rooster was Dominique lol

I just realized my silkie chicks are 12 weeks old instead of the 5 I keep telling people

Anyone care to take a guess at gender for fun? The white is much larger, thicker legs with big feet. The partridge has dainty legs and feet and is taking forever to feather out. He/she didn't seem to grow at all for the first week and wings didn't start to feather until about a week and a half or maybe 2 weeks.

They're so hard to tell until they're either laying eggs or crowing. Mine are five months old and we're still not positive. Your white reminds me a lot of mine and we're leaning towards rooster. That posture and tail that points up at the end makes me think roo, the other little one makes me think hen, except for the narrow crest, the boys usually have the Mohawk where the girls have a more of a ball shape but these are all characteristics not the rule. Cute little birds!

Your white silkie looks like a rooster because his comb is large, his crest is swept back, and he has a very proud posture. The little partridge seems to be hen because of her posture, but I am not positive since her crest is not puffy and round. Either way you two adorable silkies. Good luck with them!

I was leaning towards rooster on the white and hen for the partridge but as they get older I get more confused! It's always easier to make a judgement when it's someone elses birds rather than my own

The partridge is the more confusing of the two for sure lol hoping they're not both roosters! Thanks :)

My newest cockerel, Mister Miser. Love him!

One of my fabulous splash hens.

None of my blues or blacks were feeling photogenic today
