Mine are the opposite they are trying to go broody before they even lay!

She goes broody, shes just not good at it. She us just under a year old and has gone broody twice. She killed her first chicks by accident. And this is her second time being broody, day 11. She started with 5 eggs and is down to 3. I think she moves her eggs too much around the coop she may have scrambled the others. Fingers crossed the last 3 eggs hatch and she is a good mama this time.

My silkies are broody machines. So much so that I use them to incubate my Wyandotte and sussex eggs. They show no bias towards colour or breed, so long as their are chicks at the end of their confinement they are happy. My whites are penned away from the others and this is the first time I've allowed the roo to stay for the entire process. He is such a good daddy.
