Silkie thread!

Hatched from white silkie pair. Wondering how I got differnt color. Does anyone know?
It's all in the background of the parents. Correct me if I'm wrong but white is recessive or something like that, so just because bird(s) are white, dosnt mean they have a white dominate trait for white coloring. I know it's choppy, but the pros can add their understanding.

It's not the best picture, but I hatched two. One looks white and the other is light gray. Any idea what a light gray will become?

Any one in Michigan? I plan to breed my silkies and wonder if anyone would be interested in excess silkies, hens or roosters. Keep in mind that I haven't started breeding them yet, silkies are slow to mature so I won't sell/ give any away until they are at least 2 months, and I will not ship. It might take at least until August till I get some silkies to sell, but I plan to let some of my extended family have some silkies, so I won't know what I'm going to do till the time comes. PM me if interested. I know it's a long time to wait so I understand if you don't want to wait or if you find different silkies.
I am I'm Michigan. What do your birds look like? Show quality?

I know the hen is not a show quality(she's a breeder bird, not a show bird, if you know the difference) and the male could have been show quality or close to it if the previous owner took better care of his feet. He had REALLY bad scaly mite when I got him and he has a few toes that has the ends missing. The scaly mite is almost cleared up and he's the most friendliest rooster I've ever owned. When I cut his toe nails(the toes that were in tact had long nails) and put Vaseline on his legs, he just let me hold him and didn't struggle at all. Here's a pic of the rooster, the hen is shy so I'll get more pictures of both when I feed them tonight.

I was going to breed this pullet to the rooster, but unfortunately when she was free ranging, a fox came and got her. I normally only free range my silkies under supervision but I got caught up with my pheasant chicks and didn't check on her for a hour. The other chickens(RIR, BR,ect) we're going nuts and I came just in time to see a red fox running too the woods with a black poofy thing in his mouth. I was MAJORLY depressed.

I really don't get the breeding-math thing, but my white silkie roo and a buff silkie hen had a chick, what is the color technically?
Also my white/partridge silkie mix hatched a chick a few weeks ago. It's my profile pic. I looks like a Speckled Sussex to me, but it has feathery legs.

I'm sorry Rocky64 about your hen! She's very pretty (and poofy)!

I'm very sorry about your hen. She was a very pretty girl.
