I'm assuming you mean gender...we definitely need a better picture especially of the comb area.

Thanks, @TiaRC.
I chipped off the shell around the pip hole—but I also peeled the membrane. I think it was super thick so that's why the duck was having trouble.
It was a little cramped afterward, but is doing fine now. Its umbilical cord was hanging out, and so was a little organ-looking thing.
We put colloidal silver gel on it and it looks better now. We have it in a bucket under the heat lamp by the brooder.
How is it now? Still fighting to get out?

Why are Cuckoo Silkie combs red, and why do they look different compared to other silkies' combs? Just wondering.

From my understanding the cuckoo gene causes mottling and redness in the skin pigment and is dominant over all skin types. Cuckoo is a ' project ' colour and the size shape and colour of the comb depend largely on the breed crossed with the silkie to obtain the barring pattern .

Hi everyone! Love your birds! I am getting some silkies this week and I need help picking out names! This is my first time with silkies. I am getting 2 whites and a blue. So excited!
