Silkie thread!

Hi I am new to this site and just trying to work my way round. I think iv found the silkie thread. I have been breeding chickens for a few years. I would like to share a pic of one of my favourite cockerels. He is 8 months old so still a lot of colour to come through. I'm not sure weather to call it a tri or a tri paint. What do you guys think.

Hi
Wow very pretty! Do you breed for your self or do you sell them?

Thank you.

Hi thank you.

At the moment just working on these. I have some chicks that are showing tri. Will possibly be selling some eggs in a month just to see how they do. Prob only sell 6 or 12 atm and keep the rest. To make a couple more groups for next year breeding. Where are you.

Thanks

Do Silkies eat the same feed as the larger chickens? Maybe a silly question but since they are a smaller breed I want to be sure they can tolerate the scratch and layer feed.

I give mine the same as my LF, but I use crumble... think the large pellets are just too big for them... and I was advized that scratch is really not good for Silkies... JMHO, but maybe others have different experiences...

I feed mine the same as my LF also. Haven't heard anything about scratch being bad for them. I myslef haven't had any problems.
