They are beautiful!

Thanks! I was lucky enough to find someone here in Oklahoma with the colors I wanted since my shipped eggs didn't work out. Only 3 out of 12 started developing and 2 made it to lockdown. The rest never developed and 1 was already partially developed when I received the eggs (how does something like that happen!?

Waiting to see what happens with the 2 that are in the bator. I candled all the eggs when I got them to check the aircells... very disappointed with my first shipped egg experience. Not quite sure what to think of the whole thing. Don't know if I want to try that again so hopefully I'll be able to find a few other non-silkie breeds I'm interested in locally next spring since I don't really want anymore hatchery birds. Not that there's anything wrong with them, except they often don't really represent the breeds in terms of temperament, broodiness, color, etc...

Are Silkies pretty chill by nature? I have an Australorp and I was thinking about getting one but I can really only tolerate chill chickens. (had a bad expierence with some cinnamon queens...)

I think they're in the chillest group of chickens! I think most of the ones with crests are the friendliest, most docile and trusting because they have to be, they can't see but so much at a time and if they were worriers, they'd spin their heads off just trying to look around! I truly find them one of the most docile and friendly, many of ours even respond to their names and will just on my lap when I pat my leg!

Here are some silkies, polish, sultans, lakenvelders and sizzles getting lap, and shoulder time! ALL of our personal birds get as much of this type of attention as possible, I sit in the runs and they treat me like a statue, literally!!!!!!

I moved my broody silkie today to a pen with food and water to make sure she gets enough if each. She is so thin! I bet she would of just sat in those eggs till she died!
