Silkie thread!

My white silkies have fairly large wattles too (just pets, nowhere near SQ)... but it seems they might both be girls. Long story shortened, I thought they were both girls (Daisy & Molly) when I got them. The guy told me they were 12 weeks old, but I think they were more like 5-6 weeks. That was 16 weeks ago! Finally Daisy laid an egg (maybe 3-4 weeks ago) and her wattles stayed smaller than the other, so I thought I had a pair (renamed Molly to Bo Duke) Yesterday I got an extra egg, which either came from BoDuke, or possibly from an 18-week old Lavender Orpington, but I'm pretty sure it was Bo. Maybe they have been alternating laying all along! But Bo's wattles are quite long... and he squatted for me for the first time yesterday too, and I caught him in the nest box. This morning I got a soft egg, which I assume is from Bo. Oh, neither of them have ever crowed, but they both make some weird noises...

Needless to say, I am quite confused and will not be sure about them until I can verify that my LO's are laying or not! So I will not guess on a silkie! Ever!!

Where have you been? Yes its DAISY, haha I know for sure DAISY is laying. Its the other one that has me puzzled. Don't have any new pics within the last couple of weeks, but I'll get some tonite. Bo's comb and wattles were even starting to look red to me...

I couldn't keep up with you folks, so I unsubscribed. For now anyway. ok, I'll take a look and a guess when you get them

personaly, i love that I have a rooster. unfortunatley, my dad wants to kill any rooster we have immediatley because they are " noisy" and " cocky", no pun intended. If anything, and if Nugget really IS a rooster, I want to sell him or breed him with my White silkie.

Definitely a roo then. I currently have 14 silkies that are between 7-9 weeks of age and none of them have wattles or a comb that prominent.
Oy....... ive gotta find someone to purchase this little guy then, before my dad wants to chop his head off...... Ill ask one of the silkie owners at my school, Tucker. He breeds and sells silkie babies, so i could trade this guy for a female silkie baby from him. I hope my dad doesnt find out hes a guy yet, he seems to enjoy the thought of putting the barel of a rifle to a male chickens head, even at the age where we cant eat him.... not that i would wanna eat silkie... the color of their skin would make me SO uncomfortable.
