They go through a stage like that, it is not uncommon. The first one though has a crooked beak. As it matures, keep an eye out to make certain it doesn't grow into cross-beak. If the beak crosses, it makes it very hard for them to get enough to eat.

I want to show off my silkies. I don't think mine are show quality or anything but I love em.

I posted this one earlier on the pics & stories of my chicken thread. Somone told me this little girl is a cuckoo silkie. I hatched her out of some e-bay eggs.

This one I thought was Blue but someone said she was a splash maybe? I can't tell.

This is my prettiest baby or at least my biggest with the most fluff. She is about 12 weeks old now and I think she is beautiful. I bought some white silkies at a flea market but I don't think they will be near as good of quality as the ones I hatched myself from buying hatching eggs. Maybe they will fill out later on.

Wow I love the coloring...How did you come by making this color?

When you do projects, you get all sorts of oddities. I hatched two of these boys and kept them, although I am willing to sell one if anyone is interested in working on the colour pattern. Plans would be to remove one copy of blue, increase neck striping and even out the body colouring (it's somewhat patchy).

My first silkie broody hatched a single chick today! Here he is! Both the mom and pop are black, not sure what this one will be yet.
