I don't think they are any more or less likely to hatch than any other breed. It depends on a lot of things, how far they are shipped, how roughly they are handled, etc. It ordered a dozen silkie eggs last summer from a breeder about 175 miles from me. She shipped on a Thursday morning and assumed I would get them on Friday or Saturday. They got held up in mail somehow and was mid-July hot with 100 degree temps some days and I did not get them until Tuesday evening. I was not expecting much even though she send 16 eggs instead of a dozen. To my surprise, all were fertile and only two quit on me before hatch. I got 14 nice healthy silkie chicks in every color of the rainbow; blue, black, white, splash, paint, buff, champagne and lavender plus some off colors including one rooster who looked partially buff cuckoo. I was very pleased. But I also ordered others from 200 miles away that came in 2 days in nice fall weather and not a one hatched, so you never know. I think it's just luck of the draw. . .Does anyone know how well Silkie eggs hatch after being shipped

One of my silkie chick hatched today have got orangish legs. :/ parents are pure white silkies, this is the third generation and all the chicks I've got from them were pure white. But this is strange. Chick's got black body, beak and comb but.the legs are orange. Any idea on.what it actually is? Will it be a pure Silkie with orange legs?
