Silkie thread!

Is there a difference between a cockerel and a pullet when they start feathering? like on their wings and their tale. My two silkies are starting to feather but the feathers on their wings are coming in very differently

Silkies are notoriously difficult to sex. Feather sexing and colour sexing aren't very reliable . For most people it's a case of ' wait and see ' , egg or crow. :)

Yeah, I've heard that a lot. The anticipation is overwhelming xD

At what age do your Silkie roasters start crowing and mating? My Silkie male is just over 5 months old, he has not crowed or done anything... I have some hens his age with him and two older girls that are laying.

My started crowing very late, around 8-10 months, and it starts very "rusty" they never will get very loud anyway.

The wing is never a 100% right. Sometimes you just have to wait.

My wing test was not very accurate with my silkies, watch for wattle growth. And their fluff on the top of head. That was the earliest indicator for mine, girls are puffier and stand up more and boy tends to be silkier and slick back
