Hi all! I am going to be hatching some Silkie eggs this month! Can't wait! They sound like great birds (love how often they go broody, which means more chicks!)

I was thinking of breeding my Polish rooster with my four silkie hens. Any idea what they will look like? Egg production? How they will act?

I've been seeing pics of chickens in homes, wouldn't the chicken poop everywhere? I held one once inside...hopped out of my arms and pooped on the rug :/ the only chickens ever inside our house are chicks

Can someone help me figure out the color this silkie chick will be? The breeder told me buff and i know the father was lavender. Its hard to see but the wings have strips of black coming in. Im at a loss.

That looked exacting like jade and twix (although twix had just a single dot on the back of her head) jade and twix are gonna be buffs (99% sure cause they are tweens)

yeah, jade's back looked like she was gonna be a grey or lavender so did their feathers, but eventually they faded out

Just wanted to share this photo of Princess, my showgirl Silkie enjoying her snack of popcorn

Cute, but I would rethink the popcorn as a snack. Apart from being a possible ' choke ' Hazard , I would also be concerned about it causing an impacted crop.
