Silkie thread!

I'm not raising them for showing, so I'm not concerned about their looks :) For instance, a lot of them don't have much feathering on their legs, Frankie doesn't have any at all. I know these factors could lower my chances of rehoming any boys, but it's just something I'll have to deal with I guess...
Interesting! I wonder if he is a cross with a bother Bentham? Cool chicken

Yeah it's easier to find homes for Roos that will make good breeders, but you never know . I have a bachelor pen for any of my ' not so perfect ' boys that I decide to remove from the breeding program. Straight combs and 4 toes are generally traits that show up in intensive line breeding.

I'm curious if anyone can offer any insight into one of my silkie chicks. I purchased it as a blue partridge although the breeder admitted she was new to breeding the partridge line. Since I bought it at two weeks old, I'm not sure what it looked like as a chick. It doesn't really resemble what I've seen while searching threads for partridge characteristics. Could it be Porcelain?

They all have 5 toes, shabby feathered legs and about half have star combs, they're hatchery babies but I don't remember from where. We got all 9 when they were a few days old from a family friend who had been our culinary egg supplier, and the original plan was to raise them for the same. These are my first chickens (S.O. has more experience than I) so I'm just going with the flow!
