I had one that hatched similar to that. I lost it due to my recent coccidiosis outbreak but it was at like six weeks and it had developed into a really beautiful, very dark black-ish partridge. It was a gorgeous color.

I had read about your loss, and I'm very sorry. Thank you for the reply though. I think the eBay description did say the roo was black from paint breeding and there were partridge hens (along with several other colors). I'm super excited to see what this one turns out to be

How does everyone keep there silkies cool in the summer my other chickens are barely panting but the silkies are panting like crazy and have there wings spread out so far I don't know how they aren't dragging there wings. I have lightly misted there dust bath but they just bathed right before so they haven't used it yet. so any ideas on how to keep them cool. thanks o I have another question I was going to sell my splash silkie eggs for 20 dollars a dozen but I was wondering how high priced anyone else goesor what you think of 20 for a dozen plus the extra eggs incase they crack.

Mine are in shade with plenty of air flow. I did have to buy a small fan and hang in our big brooder today. It's completely shaded under a shelter but needed air flow. The fan was only about $6. A couple of weeks ago I think I had heat for them at night. I just put ice in their water.

ya I have been putting ice in there water but when they go way up in the woods they come back down and act like they are thirsted to death. and I don't know how well a fan will work being hot and I think fan just blow hot air around.
