Silkie thread!

Can someone please help my anxiety!!!!! I know I have been told silkies like rain but,,,, its 72° and a down pore...I have even opened the garage door and all three of my sheds thinking the where scared they would be locked in the coop..even the run is a covered out door area.. I even picked them up and should them where its dry. But no every one of my chickens are in the middle of my freaking back yard getting soaked. ..

I have one smart Partridge Silkie that has the good sense to get under shelter during a downpour and another Black Silkie that hasn't the good sense to get out of the rain and consequently it aggravates her CRD issues. The same Black Silkie is the Silkie that loves to take "showers" under the nipple valve waterers ~ especially if we just added ice cubes to the jug. If we find a puddle of water under the waterers we know she's been at it again!

THE BLACK SILKIE WORKING THE DRIPPING WATER INTO HER HEAD, BACK, AND CHEST FEATHERS!

I'm still worried about the sneaky flying chick...I can't put out netting because the yard is too big..plus she is out all day..and needs to keep out of danger..I gave her a time out today but that didn't work...any suggestions???

If you are watching her for somebody else at their house you really can't make those kind of decisions for them. If it is short time you are watching her just do what the owner wants but if longer express you concerns in a gentle way and see if they want to do something about it.

Could anyone help me with what colour my silkie is please? It looks like I have a few more in a recent hatch that are this colour too?

@livesinga , I'm praying I have a pair!

So am I. Not sure if you remember my photos of my whites. I have sold a few. Today I had a gal that has been bugging me if I had an extra white. I told her that I wasn't quite sure yet. She .. almost had me talked into letting her buy one that I think is a girl...I think I have two girls and a boy out there. I had to call her back and say, I've waited this long, I best wait until I know for sure. I want to make sure I get the girl! They are turning out so pretty. I am also keeping one of my splash.

My silkie hen is between 19-22 weeks old and still not laying. We have s silkie roo as well who crows constantly but I have not seen any mating. Are they still immature?

So if I breed some with the single comb ones could some come out with walnut combs?

I would not recommend that. If you reinforce the single combs, they'll start to pop up a lot more and they'll be hard to get rid of. If you only have 1 rooster, he obviously carries the recessive trait for single combs. Some (or maybe all) of your hens carry it too. I would get rid of your rooster and bring in a new one. That should halt the single combs (as long as your new roo doesn't carry it as well) and would be much easier than test breeding to figure which hens are carrying them.
