Silkie thread!

I have 5 silks and they are about 2 months old. I do think 2 of the 5 are roo's. I know these breeds are calmer. Will I need to separate them as they get older? Thanks.

The cockerels should be fine together as long the the submissive one has space to get away from the dominant one. However, two cockerels is way too many for only three hens - heck, even one cockerel is liable to be too much for just three hens. You'll need to either get more females or separate the males.

Yes more hens are coming. Thanks for the info.

Hello silkie friends! I know the saying is you can't tell if a silkie is a male or female until they crow or lay an egg. However I'm hoping some of the experts on here may be able to give an educated guess on the sex of my birds. :)
They are about 15 weeks old. I thought my first was gonna be a hen, and then he attempted crowing twice today. Anyway would love some educated guesses! Thank you in advance!

You think even the red one?? That chick seems not to have the tall roo stance like the others. I was hoping the splash with the redder comb would be a hen cause his/her mom has the same comb...but I guess the waddles are too big for a hen. :(

My silkie hen is extremely timid. Is this normal behavior for this breed? Is there anything I can do to make her less frightened all the time? Please help!!

I have a trick that works like magic! Live meal worms. You can buy a small container at the pet store. They have to be alive. Hand feed them right to her. Once she starts eating them she will be your best friend for life. I've been able to train all my silkies to go into their run from free ranging as soon as they see the container in my hand and I walk into the run they all come running in.

As I'm still fairly new to silkies and the colors, recognized and others....... Any help in identifying the color of this silkie and showgirl? They are from different breeders and even though the lighting is a bit different in the photos they are the identical color next to one another. Flash was on..showing reddish tines but in natural light they're more tan. They are a smidge over 3 months.
