Silkie thread!

These 3 young boys grew up together....the 1st one pictured is very dominant and asserts his position. He cannot be housed with another Roo....he doesn't just go after them...he tries to breed them. The black & white boys are housed together and are perfectly happy, content, and I have caught the black one "nesting" in the corner of the pen. 1st I thought he was trying to take a dust bath.......nope, he had his rear backed into the corner and was pulling shavings into him. LoL. Weirdo
Let him out and within 5 min he found a lady friend and well.....you know. LoL. At least I know he still thinks hes a Roo. LoL

This is a big issue i am having the first two photos are Caroline!! I got this one two medium and two small!!! Caroline has to stay with the chicks which is ok because she or he sits on them and trys to protect them!!! I have 9 regular size chickens 8 silkies and the only way I can let caroline out is if Freddie mac is locked up I have never seen anything like it!! caroline sees Freddie and runs!! Freddie drops his wing and circles and grabs the feathers on the back of carolines neck and tries to mount her!!! caloline hides behind me my chickens are my babys but the other day I had to spray him with the hose idk what to do I think hes in love and she just wants to sit on the chicks!!! Freddie is my only issue!!! Is the normal or is Freddie broke??
Roosters know what sex another bird is long before we do. Listen to Freddie. :)

thanks right now caroline stays with the chicks she thinks they are always cold!!! i was thinking i will let them all lose at once when the chicks get big enough! as for now Freddie is my little free range and roo tries to keep him in line I decided I thought he was a rooster when he started messing with my dogs!!

my thing is caroline is such a good mom to the chicks and she is bigger then freddie mac if she was a rooster wouldn't she fight him back??? she see's him and runs and calls the chicks to run with her!!! i have been putting him in a dog cage and she still wont go near hem he purr's at her and sweet talks when he's in the cage!!! he's crazy in love!! he hasnt even crowed yet!!

Sounds like you are describing ' pin feathers ' it's a natural part of moulting.
