Silkie thread!

when should a silkie be in the nesting box?
i know they don't lay very well (and they lay small eggs) i''m just curious, because i got my two on March 15, 2016 as day old chicks, and i haven't seen them in the nesting box at all since i got them, i believe, they are full grown...?
when do they start laying?

Silkies can take a while to lay. My girl Taylor didn't start until 9 months and her sister Selena took 7. 7-10 seems to be average. Also, if you got them as day olds, are you sure they aren't roosters? Silkie roosters can take equally long to mature and present themselves as male.

No not rude. Merely pointing out that it is not considered good etiquette to post in bold text unless of course you are trying to emphasise something. It's a bit like yelling.

I have to say I agree. I could see perhaps increasing the size of the text a bit of you have an issue such as poor eyesight, but it really doesn't have to that huge, or in particular, that bright blue. I don't think anyone means any offense here, but certainly I wouldn't consider it unreasonable to ask folks to avoid posting in such an... eyesore color.

Does anyone in AL or FL have Silkies for sale? One of my two 8 week olds (Sid) went missing last night :hit Now it's just Stella and she is calling for him. Thankfully she has my pair of Call ducks as neighbors and isn't alone but I feel so bad for her. We all wish Sid would just come home. Please let me know. Thank you.

Check that the nostril passages are clear if you see him scratching at his head/face.  Sometimes plugged nostrils can cause a lot of shaking of the head.  Just something I had problems with one of my Silkies with respiratory issues.

Thanks I was just looking at him and realized he has a chunk of poo in his crest. Not big but it's stuck lol. I'm going to bathe him and see if that helps lol. I'll Check his nostrils too. :)

Hey guys does this chick look blue or splash? Thanks. :)
