Silkie thread!

10 weeks old. Male or female?

Looks male to me.

Nope, they're pure Silkies - Cuckoo, like jenniferlamar said. I'm using this female and my other one in my sex link breeding project, but right now they're with my Cuckoo male so I can hopefully get more breeding stock. I have five eggs in the incubator and five more due to go in, so hopefully I get a decent hatch of pullets.

I'm not an expert but silkies have black skin black feet and black or Burgundy color combs. That little cookoo although very cute, does not appear to have any of those.

That is because the Barring gene has a restricting effect on fibromelanosis; meaning it's very hard (not impossible, but very hard) to get a Cuckoo Silkie with appropriately dark skin. That and their relatively recent creation (I believe they've been around for 20 years or so?) are some of the main reasons they are not yet an accepted variety. Breeders still have a LOT of work to do to improve and perfect them. With that said, you'll note that good progress has been made on the variety; hence plenty of Cuckoo birds showing good combs, toes, and type. You could perhaps accuse them of having yet to be worked out faults, but they are most assuredly Silkies.
