Silkie thread!

Just found this thread. I have a little flock of silkie bantums.
One Roo and five hens. My Roo ( Captain Hook) is a bit of a butthead. His harem though is one pheasant colored, two grey, and one black. The Captain is a really beautiful inky black. We just started getting newly hatched chicks yesterday and I am trying to figure out who laid the white silkie baby lol
the other three that have hatched are what looks like a merle grey, black and a dark grey with pheasant markings.

So these brownish chipmunk looking chicks. Should I be expecting partridge adult chickens from them?

Yes, the ones with the chipmunk stripes are partridges. A show breeder once told me, that in his opinion, the darker ones turn out to be boys. You'll have to tell us if that is true as yours mature.

ok cool. Will do. One is looking frizzle or sizzle. The other looks like a standard silkie. I'm excited to see how they turn out.

Same with the black. Its sizzle/frizzle and white one looks standard silkie.

two things...in most other breeds darker is female...or i should say the breeds i have dealt with so that is interesting..please post when you know! and the second thing is what is the difference between frizzle and sizzle?????? i have always wondered!

Can anyone tell me what their experience with my pet chicken is? I'm going to be ordering some chickens but I can only have like 4-5 more in my coop and that's really pushing it. Has anyone ordered like 2-3 of a couple different breeds? I want to get a silkie or two plus my mom wants Easter eggers or something like that.

Our Experience with My Pet Chicken was NOT GOOD. I would not recommend
them. And there are many on BYC New York Thread who are wonderful and
have the breeds you are looking to raise. Check them out...a GREAT bunch
of Chicken Lovers. Aria
