Awwwww! So glad my rambling helped

FYI - BYC is doing a software conversion change which I wasn't aware of until today. I guess they are trying to keep a lot of info but some is going to be lost in the transition. See the BYC thread "BYC's Software Conversion"

I just saw it today too! I hope everybody likes it.

I have a baby silkie that's about 3 weeks old and it walks on it's knuckles with it's toes curled up. They straighten out but when it walks it curls them up. Has anyone ever had this problem or does anyone have any ideas as how to get it to keep it's toes straight? It gets around and keeps up with mom and the others just stumbles from time to time.

Any thoughts on sex? Not the best pictures.
Assuming that these are all different chickens, here is my crack at guessing the middle left one's sex:
Well how old is he/she? check for early wattle development, as this may mean: rooster. as he/she grows, check for spur growth on the legs (this would mean: rooster). also, as he/she grows, check for development of sickle feathers (this would also indicate: rooster). the two in the back ground look like roosters to me, because they both have early wattle/ comb development.
it is very hard to tell the sex of a chicken within the first few months of it's life.
if I had a guess (but DO NOT judge by my guess, I am the worst guesser in the whole world), I would think that it (the one closest to the screen) is a rooster, judging by the form of the head and the form of the fluff on the head.

As for the pic all the way to the left,
I would guess that the black one is a rooster, and the brown one may be a rooster as well. It is sort of hard to tell...Could I get a close-up shot of each of them? (I also think that the white one is a hen)

in the middle right photo,
I think the one closest to the camera is a hen, judging from this angle, but can I get a side view of him/her? The light brown one next to him/her I think is a rooster, because he/she already has a developing comb (or is that just her fluff?). The two in the back I am going to guess as hens, but I would need to see them up close.

as for the last photo,
I would need to get a side view, but from this angle it looks like a hen. the two brownish ones in the back ground look like roosters, and the white one looks like a hen.

I hope this helps!
Marie
