Silkie thread!

You are absolutely correct in that ordering from a BBS pen can give you blue, black, or splash. BBS actaully stands for blue black splash. However there shouldn't be recessive genes for other colors in a BBS pen. Blue is a dominant dilution gene. One copy on a black base gives you blue, two copies give you splash, it breeds pretty predictably luckily. :)
Oh i knew there was some breakdown to the magic! But understand youre ordering from a pool that CAN produce those results, amongst other colors.

Im happy w my two silkies and D'Uccles, they are all peas in a pod. My next (in a time long away from now), will be a Blue Mille Fleur D'uccle.... omg i can't wait. If they weren't in the house, I'd have one of every color! Blue, black mottled, black, Mille Fleur... ok ill stop now (dreaming.....)

OK, i just plucked feathers out of my little sweeties under much protest from them and am sending them out to iQbirdtesting as you @AngBantamLuv did with yours! I am sending all six of my silkies as well as my other 2 "undetermined", a silver laced orpington I hatched, that also takes months to develop, and a little white chick I hatched from a fertilized grocery store egg, that I am pretty sure is a roo, but sending it as well just for fun.:)
I will be sure to post results. Curious what their accuracy is.

How exciting!!! Hopefully your results will be a little faster than mine, i think they were still dealing with a backlog from the first shut down. Its such a relief to know!

I so so so want silkies!! They are so cute and lovely!!
Yes, they really are a joy -- and if you do go nuts and get Silkies -- get at least 3 or 4 to hang out together and make their own little group away from the bigger assertive breeds in your flock. I introduced a second Silkie into my flock and the two Silkies always toodled around together -- safety in numbers away from the bigger hens:

@Ebonythechicken -- You can't believe all the breeds of chickens I wanted several years ago but we are zoned for 5 hens/no roos so you can imagine the amount of time it took me to research breeds to narrow it down. Right now we have 4 hens in a coop that supposedly holds 15 chickens. My 4 hens poop and make such messes of their feed and treats you'd THINK I actually had !5 chickens in the yard. If you are unsure of your favorite breed choices, start with a couple of each breed before you add a slew of different birds. Just a few make enough mess for a farmyard and bantam poops are just as large and stinky as big breeds. Bantams are great birds but as I found out they can all be pretty broody and more than once a year so be prepared for that as they will need to be taken off an empty broody nest a couple times daily to go eat/drink/exercise before they rush back to sit in their empty broody box. Both my Silkies went broody at the same times so we had to be sure both of them got taken off their nests to feed and water them. I never gave them eggs to hatch as they stopped their brooding in 3 to 6 weeks and returned to "normal" afterwards. I found it unnecessary to give them eggs to hatch -- besides having the bother sadness of having to re-home unwanted chicks or cockerels.

Oh my they are adorable!

Any of you silkie experts wanna take another stab at my Gmork? Like 6 or 7 months old now. Not crowing. I sorta suspect a late blooming rooster. Pretty certain my other 2 silkie have streamers. But I have no idea what I'm looking at with a frizzle? :D
