Silkie thread!

Thank you. NN frizzle roo bred my polish hen before he died. I got one with the blue and gold frizle feathers, one golden laced, blue and gold, white with some buff feathers, and one with no NN but is blue and gold with frizzle feathers. The very funny looking. I going to be the regular NN roo back to the frizzle satin(silkie mutt) to get another blue and gold frizzle roo. Off topic if you like NNs I got a Cornish Cross NN!

Sounds like some really pretty colors you got from him over the polish! Good luck getting another like him, I'm sorry you lost him. :(

Cornish crossed with NN sounds interesting!

I do like NNs I'm hoping to get some nn silkies (showgirls) soon so I can hopefully have some NN silkies along with regular silkies for a project color I'm hoping to start working on soon. :)

Hi Silkies! We just hatched our first silkie flock! The first chick arrived at 3:00 am and the last at 1:00 pm. 6 of the 8 eggs hatched. We’re a new Chicken family and know we’ll have lots of questions. Thank you for your patience with us and helping us on our journey.

How exciting! Congratulations on your new babies! :D

Welcome to the world of silkies! I know I'm still learning lots myself (there is always more to learn) but I'm always happy to answer questions. Chicks are so fun to watch grow, they change so quickly! :)

so this is Sassy! She/he is a satin frizzle showgirl. Would it be considered a sizzle? She is so cute I couldn’t help but share with everyone!

She is beautiful! :love

I think sizzle was a term more used in the past but I could be wrong.

I've seen frizzled cochin silkie crosses being called sizzles and I've seen frizzled silkies (with the non barbicled feathers) being called sizzles as well.

Sassy looks like she does not have silkied feathers (they look so lovely and soft though). I'd definitely call her a satin like you did given her feather type (satins can be frizzled or smooth but they aren't silkied). Satins do have cochin in their ancestry to get the non silkied feathers and the frizzle gene but good satin breeders have bred them back to silkies enough so there is very very little cochin left in them and they are pretty much just silkies with non silkied feathers. They aren't technically a recognized breed at this point though I do believe satin breeders hope to get them recognized.

We got our new silkies 2days ago, and we are in love ! My kids (4 & 6) have named them and are loving on them :love
