Silkie thread!

Technically any bird without DQ's (disqualifications) can be shown. So in that respect if your silkies don't have faults they could be considered SQ. It's really a matter of preference and the individual where the line is drawn in between show quality and breeder quality. I've had birds before that didn't have DQ's but I would still term BQ.

Hope that helps

Read the Standard for Silkies, there is a link somewhere. Look at lots of pictures on breeders websites. Ask lots of questions!

I think I got the best feel for what I term now as SQ by just looking at lots and lots of examples of SQ from other breeders.

I hatched a bunch of cuties last night and today from BBS eggs. There are three splashes, one partridge (?!), and these four.

To me it looks like two blues and two blacks. Or is it two blues and two dark blues? What do you think?

Three of the four look blue to me. The other one I'm not sure but I'd say black. The two lighter ones could be splash? I've had some look light blue like that and then get splashy. I stink at identifying chick colors lol I'm a watch and wait girl unless I know for sure which egg they hatched from.

There are three that are definitely splash, and next to them these look blue. I should take pics of the whole group together. Maybe tomorrow. I've run out of daylight now.
