Silkie thread!

I'm pretty sure...I don't see anything that sets my roo-radar off. Little 'poofs' of crests and typical looking hen body shape. No rooster stances. Small/no wattles. Don't see any honking combs.

But don't take my word for it. Silkies are so hard to go by.

I have certainly discovered that lol! I only found out today about the 'streamers' that boys are meant to have and thought that maybe my partridge one had them but it appears not lol!! They def dont' have wattles but they are only 4 months old, i suppose it will be what comes first, the crow or the egg, hehe!!

Most of these will be available, as many as I can get in the truck for the ride up. I also have a few White cocks that are carrying the Silver gene as well. Need to make some room for the Porcelains & Lavs!

Just let me in that room .. PLEASE!

Yes, trimming with silkies is a very good thing. Just had them NPIP tested and it is time for worming then the trim. After you do it ones or twice it is know big deal. It makes better chickens out of them along with beak and nails. If I take to long before next trim they put there head in the water to fix it themself. I've even seen them pick feathers out around the eyes of each other. I have not given anyone a bath yet but after I get sand in the run I will be working on that too if it is needed.

HA! I have a couple that like to dunk their heads in the water bowl whether they are trimmed or not! Silly chickens! I do try to trim around their eyes and tushies on a regular basis. Mine sit really still while I'm playing salon. Once they can see again they are so active and crazy (the rooster especially!).

Silkietime- your white line is gorgeous! They are looking so nice!! I know you want a blue to help your splash line, but I think the ones you have now are stunning! I'm not a huge fan of splash silkies. Or, I wasn't a huge fan of splash silkies until I saw yours. They are so lovely!

Ha, thank you, I love yours too. I need a little more color in my splash. Bobbie is sending me a blue rooster and a blue little hen. I think that will help my BBS pen a lot. There is a young boy that fell in love with my splash rooster so he will get a great home. If they get a good home I'm happy. With my whites I could not ask for a better rooster then Dock. I love him more then any chicken I have, hands down. I am very lucky to find BYC an then Bobbi or I would not be where I am today. Winter was our hard times and best times. Look at us now. I'm so happy I did it, aren't you?

I have one that was an ugly duckling you might say. But after a long haul he is turning out to be just beautiful. I don't know if he's a sizzle or a frizzled sizzle. but he has slightly frizzled wings, and his neck feathers are in the direction of frizzled but soft looking like a silkie and his toe feathers are definitely frizzled and his tail is just so pretty. He has some long feathers that are in the shape of a horseshoe. But his poor tiny head hasn't gotten all it's feathers. He's just got a bit of fluff up there. He's still getting feathers at 6 months old and is about half the size of his clutch mates. But he is such a sweetie. He lives in the house in his own cage because the others pick on him in the pen. Out of the pen they are all buddies. I imagine because he's a he and the weaker one. He won't defend himself against the other cockerels but he don't hesitate to harass a cat or dog. Crazy chicken. Well, im gonna have to find a pic.
