Thanks for all your help and the links! I think I might try it. I am hoping to be raising some really nice silkies in the near future and want to make sure I know who is who and where they came from. I've read other threads about leg bands and I know that sometimes they do manage to lose them. Now to get them all banded so I can get all their info into a spreadsheet! LOL

Hi everyone, hoping to get some answers about my silkie guy/girl.

He's got some brown coming in and I would like to know if he's not actually a black silkie, or if he just has bad breeding.

If H were to breed him/her to another black silkie would the same thing happen? Or would it dilute over time to full black?

Anyone know if you can keep more than 1 silkie rooster in the same coop? I would like to diversify the flock a bit, especially since we have new chicks. Right now the chicks who are about 4 months old have formed their own little flock and stay away from our rooster (their father) and all the hens. Is this normal?

Yes you can keep 2 roosters in the same coop just make sure the smaller rooster is not getting beat up badly by the bigger roo. And sometimes the yunger chickens have there own little flock because they grew up togethere but they should mix to one flock after they are togethere a little longer.
