Oh man, we picked up two from someone here in Lafayette but one of them has come down with what we think is fowl pox. He's got no upper respiratory issues, just some weird sores on his feet and presumably his eye- it's hard to tell because his lid is swollen right now, and he's too feathered for me to see his comb!
I have the vaccine coming on Monday. I wanted SQ too but I got two pet quality ones, had the same problem you did.
I was warned I might have to vaccinate against fowl pox here anyway, so we're vaccinating the buff that came with him. The roo that fathered our splash is actually quite a handsome fellow but his offspring's got crooked toes.
Where did you end up ordering from? We figured we'd keep the two we had for pets, but I was really hoping to find SOMEWHERE to get SQ stock from. I'm surprised no one wants your silkies, but then again the lady I got our two from was having the same problem, she's got about 10-15 black/blue month olds left and then ~8 2 month old blues that she hasn't been able to get rid of, plus there's a guy in Gonzales with the same issue with non-bearded.
Yours are very gorgeous even if they have faults though.
I just wish the little splash we got didn't have to break out in pox, or I'd be happy to get more.
Hoping to get him cleaned up and feeling better, he's my favorite of the two we have. He actually likes to have me hold him and sit with me, the buff is a bit of a frady-cat.
