If it lives through tonight then I would definitely give it a couple days before I even considered culling it, unless it shows really definite signs of suffering and absolutely no interest in life after a couple days. Chickens are amazingly very hardy and can sometimes survive horrible injuries just fine. Even Silkies. I've been following along and all these wonderful people have given you great advice. The only thing I might add is that you could rinse the wounds with diluted Iodine before you put on the ointment, and that in addition to the electrolytes you might want to give her a couple drops of Poly Vi Sol children's vitamins without Iron if you have some. That would give her another extra little boost of energy and possibly help if she's had any severe head injuries. One question, do you know if she has a vaulted skull or a regular skull? It sounds to me like you're doing the best that you can for her, and I too will be praying that she makes it

i just can not get the image out of my head when i pulled up from town and saw it sitting there in the poring rain looking so help less i could not get to it at that time because it was thundering and lightening and i had my daughter with me that i had just picked up from school because she got sick as soon as the lightening stopped i went and got it. i feel like i need to end its mysery but then i still have a little hope that it will make it. if it makes it thru the night is that a good sign or will it take several days till i know for sure that it will be ok
