He's full blooded silkie - came from a shower/breeder who had lots of extra roos.

I just had a little "moment" with him. I was talking to him, and he was actually looking up at me, staring me in the eye, listening intently, and occasionally buckbuck'd quietly while I was talking. I've never had a chicken seem to interested in me talking to them before. It was pretty cool

Yep maybe 2/3 silkie and 1/3 serma

Strange, the woman said he was full blood silkie

Could she have been lying? She breeds show silkies, so she had to have been able to tell if he had serma in him...I don't mind if he does, it'd just bother me if I was lied to.
If he does have serma in him, we won't be breeding him, but that wont stop me from having him as my buddy (assuming he stays friendly)

wilobrook farms - check out BYC auctions - silkies are offered frequently - I saw one person that said they would provide a free rooster with the purchase of their pullet, IF the buyer wanted him.

Some of the sales are "buy now" at a stated price and the first person to pay it - takes it. In the auction type the highest bidder wins and prices can go high quickly. There are very nice bq and sq offered, wish I could have them myself.

Also its a way to find silky person that have something to sell. Even if you don't want what is offered, you could ask if they have other stock, etc. I don't really know silky people except for Sundown, and she sent a beautiful buff pullet that she considered pq. - her show stock looks amazing.

Oh my goodness, Garth just started to (attempt to) crow (if you can legally call the sound that came out of his mouth a crow...) I had no clue what it was at first. It jumped me and both of my dogs, and my friend on the computer microphone asked what the heck he had just heard. I had no idea that anything was even capable of making such a sound!

Congrats on taking Garth! He sounds like a sweet boy. Most of my silkie boys are very sweet and gentle. It sounds like he found himself a good home! He does look like a possible silkie mix though but I have found the mixed boys are just as sweet or sweeter!
