I got my first her from Juliette (my splash)!!!! She is almost 8 months old and hopefully her sisters are going to follow pretty soon

She laid on top of the pooping board though. The egg didn't break completely, but has a little crack on the top. I just wished I had a roo.... Oh well gotta be patient!

Do silkies get on with other breeds? We have 4 hatch mates but the silkie (the other three are sizzles) is being constantly picked on by the rooster. He seems to only try and mount her and just plain picks on her. Like this afternoon she was bailed up in the hen house with him on the door pecking her if she tried to get out.
Was feeding them chickweed and she was too scared to go past him to get some.
He does a little bullying of the other two but nothing more than showing who is boss but with her feathers literally fly at times.
Not sure what to do b

In my experience silkies do get picked on more than other breeds, but not always.. Phyllis is about ready to lay (unless she was the one that laid a little off white egg on the coop floor this weekend, but I'm not sure on that) - she's been cock fighting the RSLs who are 1/2 her age.

I'm confused; the forum hasn't changed that I have noticed. Not since last January.

I think the mobile site has changed...it is brown and is annoying that it changed...

Are you sure the silkie is not another cockerel?

Yeah pretty sure, it's a partridge and so far everyone has said it's the wrong colour to be a boy. The rooster in question got all the red feathers suddenly about a month ago but the silkie hasn't reddened up at all and they are the same age.

Feel her legs over for a break. If there is an injury, it should be obvious in appearance and/or in causing pain when touched/moved. Also check the bottoms of her feet for bumblefoot and legs for scaley leg mite. If you find an injuy, treat that, but be aware that mareks and botulism also cause lameness.

I did last night and no injury :/ I am thinking she may have Marek's... ugh. I am at a loss for what my next step should be...? She recoils her legs if I pull and no apparent breaks, she eats and drinks if you put it in from of her and seems otherwise ok. Do I need to put her down? What is the risk to my small children if any, since I have had her in my house with all of us at the moment?? Thanks for any and all feedback I really don't wanna destroy her if there is ANY chance she will recover!
