I'm in Cumberland County. Half way between Portland and Lewiston.

Cool! I'm about 1 mile from the cumberland county line LOL, but in York county! really cool! do you have any white silkies? what colors do you have?

I have two blue hens, one lighter than the other. The first one definite pet quality. I might try breeding the older of the two (2nd picture) to my splash cockerel depending on what he looks like when he matures just to try my luck with breeding.

Here you can see how they have the dark heads. Is this what yours look like? Normal to blue.

This is the SOP for color blue:

Blue:
Head: Glossy Black
Neck: Hackle- an even shade of clear bluish slate, distinctly laced with glossy black. Front of Neck -- same as breast
Back: Back and Saddle- an even shade of clear bluish state, each feather distinctly laced with glossy black.
Tail: an even shade of bluish slate, each feather distinctly laced with glossy black.
Wings: Bluish slate.
Breast: An even shade of clear bluish slate, each feather having a sharply defined lacing of black.
Body and Fluff: Clear bluish slate.
Legs: An even shade of clear bluish slate, each feather having a sharply defined lacing of black.
Undercolor of All Sections: Bluish Slate

here is my blue girl...she definitely has a dark head and lighter body...of course she wouldn't pose for me...

Some of my 'juvies' checking out the layer house (and a EE hen

) These boys are definitely maturing! I have three OEGB hens I use for broodies that freerange around the farm, and they happened to pass by these guys while they were out, and omg. The three boys took off after them, wings and heads down, intent on mating the poor girls! The girls, however, are much more street smart (several years old) and immediately escaped up into the pear tree. The silly flightless boys were rather frustrated about that. Those darn teenage roosters, always have one thing on their mind

It's funny. I like that cross boy better than the regular silkies he's with> He's stunning!!

some of my chicks are going through the ugly stage at the moment but I just wanted to show you guys two of my blue partridges that came from the same breeding and are totally different....one is real dark in color and marking and one is so light that she looks powdery blue almost a soft purple due to the mix of the orange as well...soory but i couldn't get the little one out as momma was cranky and kept biting me...

That last boy looks just like the boys I've hatched out at that age.
After he grew a bit, he got a lot more red.

and one of my little buffs...I have two at the moment growing that are clean with no smutt and they look just like a little ball of yellow light when the sun hits them...the other buffs are either patchy dark yellow or have smutt already...

just thought i would post some pics while the sun is out and now they are growing a bit...

Well, our flock is looking good! Happy and Healthy, clucking around. I have noticed since moving them into the barn, their appetite hasn't been great. There is always left over crumble in their feeders. I gave them some lettuce and warm oatmeal the other day and they scarfed it down like they havent eaten in months. Is it just the time of year or is there something can do to boost their appetites? They are getting vitamins and electrolytes still after having the mites and they are a little on the thin side. What can I feed to help the hens in the breeding pen get back to their normal weights? They were all wormed about eight weeks ago, so they should have put a little weight on after that right?

Is there anything that my breeding roos can and should be having to keep them in great shape for breeding? My blue breeding roo is working a little harder these days due to a overabundance of hens that popped up. No complaints here though. Just want to keep my boys healthy.

Pam, Thanks for posting photos. The New Silkies black and blue
look a lot like yours. They have a black head and feet and
blue bodies. PRETTY.
