Silkie thread!

they will be grumpy whenever you try to pick them up to get there eggs from under them..

I bought mealworms last night and started "taming" my week old silkies. omg what a laugh! They learned pretty quick that my hand provides tasty treats

Now they come to my hand when I put it in there. They run around like they're on fire.

It's hysterical! I'm going to try to get a video.

I'd like them to accept being handled, should I be picking them up and grabbing them too?

If they sleep on the nest, you remove them and they go back within a short period of time and what the other two have posted.
I'm guess my girls aren't broody yet then because they are the sweetest ever. No one seems to be hanging out on their eggs either. They kinda lay them where ever they land.

How long does it take for a chicken to grieve a lost friend. They were raised together, and my Polish freaks out without her, but I have to sell the hen with the rooster, because she is eating eggs. Not her own, tho. I don't want to teach the others that. Poor Ziggy- she'll be so heartbroken. She yells for the other anytime she's out of site :(

My new blue hen looks like she's settling in pretty good.
Unfortunately, she's stuck in a small cage for quarantine so I take her out every day and let her roam around the utility room so she can stretch her legs (and wings).

Now she just needs a name!
