Silkie thread!

I just realized my 4 week old is a six-toed Silkie! Is that bad?
It will make a nice pet but not good for showing.
I need your help Silkie Experts....my young hen has a crooked neck(wry neck?) AND a large lump where her "ear"(the pretty blue spot) is? Im giving vitamins in the water and the Poly Vitamins(babies with out iron)....any other suggestions? Thanks so much!
It's possible she has an ear infection which can also cause wry neck and as mentioned it could be caused by mites. If it's an infection she will need antibiotics.
My first Silkie baby from my very own flock just hatched

I'm pretty sure its from one of the blue cream x blue eggs and it looks black? Its still wet though, so maybe its really dark blue. I'll post pics when its done resting and fluffy

My self-blue chicks often look black when they are wet and dry almost white. :)
Lil chick is 8 days old today, here Is Pip. Yes, we finally found a name for him/her.. Pip. They grow so fast. Already has wing and feet feathers showing. This pic was taken seconds ago, just chillin in my palm so quiet and calm. Such a good chick!

What a sweetie!
2 weeks! Hoping it's a girl, it has a huge crest

my chicks came today 26 and not a 5 toe in the box so disapointed featherleg special
I'm assuming you got them from a hatchery? They will be wonderful pets but hatchery birds rarely are usable in a breeding program.

Day 10 candling went well. All ten eggs are developing right on schedule, and boy, are they active! I don't think they liked being taken out of the nice warm incubator too much, they were basically bouncing all around the shell. Sweet babies

I'm so happy (and surprised) with the 100% fertility! Little Macho (or "The Other Guy") have apparently been quite active! Now I just am hoping for a 100% hatch as well

I turned the heat light on in the brooder tonight so i can make sure its in the right spot before i get the chicks in the morning and both dogs were sitting there staring into it and expecting more chicks. lol.
My pit is terrified of chicks...she pees on the floor anytime one moves near her and my shepard mix is confused by them. haha

My new hen Iris FINALLY laid her first egg!!!

Here are my Wife's Silkies at around 9 weeks(+/- a week). Please excuse the messy faces, they love their fermented feed.

Buff(Teriyaki)

Porcelain(Marsala)

White(Parmesano)

Black(Kung Pow)

Blue(General Tso)

A couple of weeks ago I thought the Black one was a cockerel, now I am questioning it. Only the Blue is getting much bigger and has a large comb, the other four have very small combs. If Blue ends up being the only cockerel, that means I only need to acquire one more cockerel, a Buff or Partridge to go with the Buff and Porcelain girls.
