Silkie thread!

Yeah, she was a good one. But at least she went pretty fast. Less than 6hrs after I tried treating her. At least I know next time with meat treats, smaller pieces(probably run through the food processor) for the chicks. I am sure before the end of the year we will get another Buff, I think we have decided to do BBS and Buff/Porcelain/Partridge pens for breeding. So I will get ya a good Buff some day.

I feel you there!!

I have 3 cochin girls. Last year 2 of them never went broody. One went broody twice.

They are supposed to be very broody. I guess mine are an exception.

Twice. How far apart? We can't wait for one of our girls to go broody.. I don't have time for an incubator..
We will end up with mutts. The mutts I have seen are still pretty... Our roo is a partargarge silkie? I think..
His hackle is blonde, body golden & back end black & grayish.. I would post up photos if I could figure out
how to on my phone.. Someday..

By the way.. Not to brag BUT our weather here in Teme Arizona is so fabulous today..
Well & for the next few days... So if any if ya all's are down this way pop on over for a cup of tea
& chicken talk...

She went broody in Feb 2012 and September 2012, so quite far apart. She raised her last brood to 12 weeks before I moved her silkies to the silkie pen!

By this time I had already sold 3 of her chicks

She looks so tired lol

She's all done being broody now. Hope she goes broody this spring again!

Sorry Trav :(

In my experience silkie chicks get impacted crop was quicker than other breeds when fed treats. I've lost 2 very young to impacted crop last year.

40 degrees and rain here. Yeah...I know... Big whoop. It's February in the Pacific North West. Same old, same old.

If I could catch a ferry to your door step, I'd love to have a cuppa and a chicken-y chat.

Day 20 for my batch in the bator. No Silkies in this set. Practicing to get it right with barn yard eggs. Two more weeks until I pick up eggs and birds at Catdance. Gives me a butterfly tummy just thinking about it!
