I feel your pain. Hopefully I am done with passing birds for a while. 2 to hawks, 2 to genetic issues and 1 caused by me. Ugh

Great, you convince me! I will try to get the coarse thenRiver sand is what I use as we have a dry creek bed on our property. It is really awesome stuff!
Yes, feet stay clean and easy on the feathering.
Can't wait to see those babiesYeah, I post pics on FB, and my friends, most Mafia). are not amused. Luckily, I found some chicken friends on there! . My Catdance eggs go into lockdown tomorrow. Fingers crossed- I lost my last batch. It was my first time incubating, in a home made cooler/incubator- it was a disaster!! Good luck on yours!!OH- this time, I have Hovabator LG![]()
I have the 1588 and I just wanted to let you know that you should not trust the build in thermometer/ hygrometer. I have two 1588 and both are off. I always stick one or two thermometer/hygrometer in there.Talk about FAST shipping! My incubator just showed up todayI aready pulled it out of the box and plugged it in.. Doing a test run today/night. Should be a go for eggs next week! So fun!![]()
Beautiful!
Congratulation on your new chicks. Pics please?Your Silkies are just beautiful! I just received my first Silkie chicks a couple of weeks ago. Three of them are 8 weeks old and 2 are 6 weeks old. Hope they grow up to be as gorgeous.![]()
Let us know how it goes.Hope you have a good hatch! My Catdance eggs go into lockdown on Tuesday and I am so excited!
Yeah more chicks coming along. Good luck!Mine just arrived too! Hah! It's plugged in and I'm testing it now. Going to put test eggs in it tomorrow.
You might want to try to put them in egg cartons (lockdown). Peep does it that way and she gets very good hatch rate. I am definitely going to try next time. Good luckHey! I posted this in the appropriate thread- hatching, etc, but I'm anxious for an answer - I'm on pins and needles for what might be my first hatchHere's the question: Hi- Forgive me if this has been answered a million times, or is on an egg chart that I haven't seen- I've been looking before I put the question on here
. This is my second time trying to incubate eggs. First time was a disaster, no eggs hatched. This time,I'm candling. I have 10 viable eggs (shipped eggs). 2, I have questions about. They are on day 17. I looked at them today, before I put them on lock down tomorrow. 1 has air cells on both ends of the egg. I can still see veins, but only the middle of the egg has mass. Another eggs is full of chick, but the air cell is at the wrong end (the narrow part of the egg). Are those eggs ok? The will be laid sideways during lockdown (Hovabator LG)
I don't know if your message was intended for me but if it was, yes I thought about a possible hay allergy, that is why I remove it and added some pine shavings until I get sand. I looked at her today and I don't know what to think. Her skin is still in really bad condition (dead skin, peeling, scabbing, missing feathers...) but now I gave her some frontline I cannot do anything else. I need to wait a few days in order to give her a bath and get rid of all of this dead skin. I am really hoping all my hard work will pay off. She used to be gorgeous and now there is no words to describe her.I know this may be a shot ini the dark, but maybe your chick has an allergy. I had a black lab with zero issues. One day he started breaking out all over, as soon as I got rid of every bit of the hay (as advised by a friend) he got better an all of the reaction went away. I never used hay again.
Too cute!
I am sorry about your lossImmunized the chicks today for Maereks and lost one dang itit's one I had planned on keeping but can't take a chance of loosing the whole lot of them.
Doesn't she look cozy in her bed? So adorable

Oh darn! I was hoping this was going to be fool proof..I have the 1588 and I just wanted to let you know that you should not trust the build in thermometer/ hygrometer. I have two 1588 and both are off. I always stick one or two thermometer/hygrometer in there.
Actually it's her bedI'm wondering what dog she chased out of the bed. My friend Arline's serama takes over the dog's bed when she is broody and nobody comes near her.
