Silkie thread!

6 babies hatched! 3 lavenders, 1 porcelain, 1 buff, 1 blue or black lavender split. They dried crusty, like with egg on them (?) The pic shows some shavings on it, that was after I put them in brooder, once I saw that they were as dry as they were going to get. Wanna brush them with a toothbrush.

I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to see all your babies fluffed out. I use a soft tooth brush to help fluff chicks and get the stubborn crusties off them sometimes.
Often when shell sticks to them like this, it is because the temperature was high. It's called sticky chick syndrome. No kidding. Not to worry because you have live chicks! Yay!

YAY! So cute!!! Did you get the colors you were hoping for? I had one hatch sticky like that. Within a couple of days she was fluffed out like the others. I was nervous to handle her because she had a vaulted head and anytime I would touch it she would drool. Scared the puddin' out of me.

I've had a couple of nice hatchery chicks. This pullet is between 3 and 4 months old here, so just a baby in this picture. No baths or blow drys, just here being a regular chicken.
Love that photo with the shadow!

Excellent hatch! I use a very soft toothbrush to fluff mine. I do not brush the vault.

Sure did! 3 of the ones, I was able to fluff. 3 are kind of fragile, and I don't want to stress them. 2 have swollen, crusty navels. Here is a Lavender, buff, and blue/split. The blue in person is really dark with silver tips- so pretty! Doesn't show in the pic. These are Catdance babies.
