How old is the buff? He doesn't look fully mature. Could your splash be a calico? Kind of looks like some I have seen. But if he really is a splash I wouldn't breed him.

How long ago did you get the buff? He looks like he could fill in nice and he's just missing some feathers, but I would keep an eye on him. This pic he looks pretty young so he may turn out to be a looker. They don't fully mature until over a year, but if he's older I think you were ripped off

I agree, if he's a splash, he's hot ALOTof leakage. But, I have seen calicos this color too...

I have the 3 month old Silkie that is a real blabbermouth. I am new to silkies and wondering, does being a chatterbox coincide with the gender of the chicken at all? I could use some hints for figuring out the gender of this little critter. Thanks!

Don't u candle eggs to tell if its fertile what do h look for exactly

You can't tell fertility by candling. You have to break the egg.

If she is sitting and in the mood to hatch, she will hatch a golf ball or die trying.

I have a question...
I have a splash roo with a lot of autosomal red on him. Would he still be considered a splash or something else?
Another question...
I have a buff rooster that I brought from a good quality breeder who assured me he was quality. However the more I look at him the more concerned I am. He is a truly clean buff, small in size, very compact, perfect feet, darker eyes for a buff, his comb is almost nonexistent but it is there. He is not impressive as a roo and really lacks manliness overall. His crest is lacking. I am worried about him bein able get the job done in the breeding pen. I have heard little Roos with tiny combs are hard to get bred naturally. I will try to get a pic of him up here. I wonder if I shoul hold onto him or replace him with another clean buff roo that I have?

How old is the buff? Your Splash roo could be a splash partridge. Either way it isn't a good idea to breed it to splash.

And what color is this? Bought this rooster as part of a group and don't know what color to call him...

This guy could be a light blue partridge or as mentioned a gray with autosomal red (calico). Sonoran can always tell!

The little buff who's name is Oso is somewhere between 6 months and a year.

I've only had him for a week. Sorry that the mystery color roo is molting. I was told the splash was a splash but I got him and Oso from the same breeder.

I thought he was the hen at first. He came as a part of a breeding pair. It was only after I picked up the actual hen and took a close look at her that I realized she was not the roo of the pair.
