Silkie thread!

it's been snowing like that all freakin day... still coming down hard! My poor chickens are gonna get cabin fever, they refuse to free range in the snow and I think they are afraid of it!

I know the feeling. All of my coops looked camoflauged in the snow today It was hard to make them out as the snow was even sticking to all the chicken wire closing the runs all in also. OH my poor chickens when will spring come

Mine are about the same age too. Of course they aren't fancy show stock, I picked them up at feed store.I think they may be from Idea.  They are my first Silkies and I think they are cute as can be. 

Mine came from ideal...had a pair but the white one didnt make it its week bday but blackie is going strong!

my chickens love the snow! well most of them. surprisingly my silkie showgirl rooster is always pecking around in the snow. my big hatred of snow is that their water freezes- so i bought a heated waterer, unfortunately i forgot that the extension cord goes across the driveway... where they plow. so when it is snowing i have to roll up the cord and tuck it away- kind of pointless since that is exactly when i want their water to be heated

My Silkie layed her first egg yesterday!!!!!!!!!! She is 5-6 months old.

Are you able to feather sex Silkies?

Chickies are growing feathers! I love little shredded chick wing feathers, they are so soft. Foot feathering is awkward, in between fuzz and feathers in some places, but is still looking nice. This chick could use better toe spacing on its left foot, though. Please excuse my arm. And of course, faces are coming along adorably. love those fuzzy cheeks and heads (i'm not sure why the skin looks green in this pic, it's not in person) Also, my rough looking hen dried off today

How old is your hen? I have a little blue silkie, she's half the size of my white silkie that is the same age... Definitely a runt, but so dang cute! Your silkies are adorable!

Are you able to feather sex Silkies?

Nope! You have to guess until they are 4-6months old.

my little silkie, Prim she's 8 days old and a ball of energy. She buddies up with my BR (named Barred-Rock Obama hehe!) and I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up a he! She keeps all my BO's and CW's in line
