I'll (hopefully) hatch my own eggs in another month or so. I just need to get a coop & pen fixed up for my cockerel and his two women. I might give him 3 if he's lucky.Oh, Im hatching now.. just that this pullet is young and I really dont think she will stick with it. It isnt real cold here . I also dont have a place set up for broodys right now.
Wow! They were beautiful as chicks. Really fine looking still. The General is beautiful but I am so partial to that little Porcelain.My 2 remaining MB chicks(17 & 18 weeks)

I do think that General is going to be showable. Nice type and fluff and very good feet feathers. I think we will try once in the late fall at a show in Chehalis, WA
I have 3 silkies that are all now about 4 1/2 months. 2 of them are cockerels and do exactly this with each other. I have one big EE roo who usually runs over to break it up. They did start crowing before they started this behavior though. However, they didn't start crowing until my EE had been crowing for a couple weeks. Then, they started trying to crow. My silkie hen never gets involved at all. I would think that the behavior you are describing is more cockerel than hen scuffles. We laugh at them sometimes because they can get quite the stare-down going on and then almost leap-frog back and forth over each other.I have a newbie question for you silkie gurus.2 of my silkies began having some serious stare-downs and "fighting" yesterday and it's continued into today. The fighting is not the typical chest bumping I've seen all of them do. It's more like real fighting - legs/feet first into the other bird - but they aren't hurting each other. I've suspected these two are roo's. Is this roo behavior - working out the pecking order? Here are a couple pictures of each that may help. Is the behavior likely to get worse? They are still young - 3 months old.

The porcelain may be a roo. I don't know about the splashI hear people say its hard to sex silkies and it takes forever to figure it out but I thought Id post some updates pics of my 2 chicks and see if anyone has any opinions. Pics arent great becasue they were running from my phone lol There are 2 chicks in theses pics 1 splash and 1 porcelain about 7 weeks old
