Silkie thread!

Of course it was sunny when I ran upstairs to grab my camera but got cold and cloudy when I was finaly ready to take the chicks out for a photo shoot.. So I only got a couple good ones and ran them back in to get under the heat.

This is Palace, she's my only MB chick left. Almost 15 weeks. I love "her" I think it's a she.

A box of babies.. In some natural light.

Splash with the most fluff

White, letting me know it's cold outside.

And.. the rest of my pics are blurry. I was trying to hurry. Next time I'lll wait till it's a little warmer with a little more sun

I have a first time broody. I didn't think she was gonna stay with it but she has so far. She started out with 5 eggs and when I went out and moved her today, she had eight. I'm not sure which are new and which ones she had first so I am just going to let her alone. I moved her into her own box and she is staying in there now. Hope the chicks break your broody hen.

too cute :)

Is it true that silkies are so Motherly that they will raise chicks for you?  As in if in future I order chicks or eggs and give them to her to brood instead of me...

Yea, make sure she is in the mood! I tested that theory with mine before she was broody. I brought home a chick and introduced them. All was fine for a few minutes then she would purposely seek him out and attack him. Ended up having to give him away.

Woohoo

My 2 remaining MB chicks(17 & 18 weeks)

General Tso(Blue cockerel) and Marsala(Porcelain pullet)

General giving the stink eye(his eyes are trimmed up so he can see)

I do think that General is going to be showable. Nice type and fluff and very good feet feathers. I think we will try once in the late fall at a show in Chehalis, WA
