Silkie thread!

Fwwwooo!

I just finished getting caught up on everything! Boy do you guys chat a lot! I have learned a bunch in the 3 weeks it took to get caught up on everything! After reading the 1500 PAGES!! of things I have a few questions on this whole FF thing.

Would you use FF or Fodder or both?

I have already convinced the DH that we are saving for a hydroponic set up to do the Fodder, but one bucket of constantly fermenting feed and little to no waste sounds awesome! Is the FF okay to feed to ducks? I have a single call duck that would be eating it as well.

Yes, ff is just fine for ducks. They even don't mind if it's sloppy since they like that kind of messy stuff.

You will notice that your ducks will probably eat more of the ff than the chickens - mine are little piggies.

Very nice!
They sure eat well LOL. They look great and very healthy! Love that butt!

unfortunately from just the picture there is nothing we can tell you. What are the symptoms?

Someone rwply
I think this one is on it's way out.

Could be a number of things.. Injury.. disease (Mareks, but I doubt it - because it is not that fast acting), parasites creating weakness.

Any chicken I have seen anywhere near this bad would be an immediate cull. I don't want them suffering, and this chicken is suffering.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this.

Cool! The part of the barn my DH is setting up for my chickens will have a live holding tank for minnows and small fish we catch from the local canal, I had intentions on giving the duck (and possibly the chickens) a couple fish a day as part of her diet, see below for Squeaker's short story, would it be okay to grind some fish and add it to the FF before giving it to them?

(when Squeak was a few months old, she developed a problem with the tendons in both her legs and I had been giving her canned tuna and sardines and wrapping her legs to set the tendons right, well, another BYCer suggested live feeder fish from a bait shop and letting her swim after them. She made a full recovery doing this three times a day and is now a house duck in the winter against the husband's wishes.)
