Hello, I'm from Australia and I just purchased my first ever trio of silkiesI just love their little fluffy butts... Any advice would be appreciated. Mine are all grey with different shades of grey through them. One has a light fluffy head, one a dark nearly black head and the last one has a dark but not black head.. I was hoping to get a buff & white as well but they didn't have any... I'm so excited to finally have my silkie family

I just threw away one of those Costco containers but I guess that gives us another excuse to pick up some more desserts-LOL!I have lots of store bought feeders but this is my favorite that I make from Costco pie holder. I lose zero feed! The can is full of rocks and the 1" lip on the pie holder prevents scratching the feed. It's throw away plastic so only lasts about a year but it's free with the pie!!

They are supposed to have 5 toes but see ones on occasion with 4 or 6 . It isnt correct though..Question for all you "Silkieites"
Never had Silkies before.Went to TSC and saw 8 light grey chicks with feather feet.Some had 5 toes,like Silkies,others didn't.Do ALL Silkies have 5 toes?
yeah usually they are mixes. They may have been seeing bantam cochins mixed in with the silkies.

By the way, who has a good idea of storing food at night?Currently I pack everything into a bucket with lid to keep rodents out, but it gets time consuming 2X a day dealing with several feeders.
This is my experience also.Pam, My young white rooster was horrible for a while!!!! I finally just left him in with them . I think what he was doing looked wore to me than what it was lol! anyway, he has become much more proficient
Hilarious!!My two white roos are exactly the opposite. .they mate a different hen, no joke, at least every 5 minutes. They've been doing this (and I've been getting fertile eggs) since before they were 5 months (the hens were 8 months). And if I let all my birds out to free range, they spend all day chasing OEGB and various LF hens. I've seen the pair of them team up to mate a HUGE cochin hen! Poor hen stayed crouched until both were done. I would love to see those babies
