I am desperately seeking silkies over here and cannot find anyone close. Craigslist and classifieds are a bust.

I have 10 chicks already so I don't want to order more. I just want a pullet or two. Anyone know anybody in northern indiana with silkies??

Love it!

I need to post some pics soon. My babies are 5 weeks already and getting some mohawks. If the sun comes out tomorrow I'll snaps some shots... Although I fear rain is in the forcast. Man I got bit by the Silkie bug today. Thanks for all the cute pics everyone. Now my incubaor feels especially empty

I'm hoping to change that soon!

My broody Silkie Hatched out a EE chick and I decided to let them raise it, hoping nothing will happen. I just didn't have the heart to take it from them. I have two hens looking after it. Do you think the Rooster will be nice to it? I put food and water right by the nest in the coop do you think it will eat and find the food ok, I worry about the litte guy.

The forth chick looks like a dark silver partridge to me. Here are a couple pictures of what it might look like as it gets older:

What color do you call the fourth picture? I have a chick hatch like that and I don't know what to call it.[/quote]

I never had luck leaving them in the coop, always pull one of my broody girls and section of an area large enough in my porch and let my broody girl raise them for a few weeks :)

Hi I have silkie that I thought looks a bit different from the others like it is a lot less energetic than my other chickens and it doesn't really do much does anything look or sound wrong with it
Are your other chickens silkies? Silkies tend to be much more laid back than other birds and don't rush things unless they need to. Just make sure it is getting enough food and water. Should be fine. Unless it looks and acts sick I wouldn't worry about it.
