Silkie thread!

The forth chick looks like a dark silver partridge to me. Here are a couple pictures of what it might look like as it gets older:

What color do you call the fourth picture? I have a chick hatch like that and I don't know what to call it.

I hope my chick looks like this when it gets bigger. I love the different colors that silkies come in.

Another point of interest- I'd love to hear what color eggs your girls are laying!  My friend has a black show quality girl that usually lays dark brown (like maran dark brown) eggs. Anyone else? Her's came from Glen See, so they are not mixed.

Mine only laid the cream colored egg; they were buffs.

Mine lay anywhere from a white egg (one white hen does this) to a cream coloured (almost everyone else). The white eggs are so different in shape and size (they are much rounder) but they come from one of our nicest hens.

Hi I have silkie that I thought looks a bit different from the others like it is a lot less energetic than my other chickens and it doesn't really do much does anything look or sound wrong with it

If its the only Silkie and just got moved it might feel alone and stressed out. Does the stool look normal? Check for lice/mites.

I never had luck leaving them in the coop, always pull one of my broody girls and section of an area large enough in my porch and let my broody girl raise them for a few weeks :)

Thanks Carolyn, maybe I can find something to block off part of the coop with and keep the others away.

Could someone please refresh my memory, I can't get on to the genetics mixer page, Splash over Black=? I just got a pair of splash for my blacks and forgot what they produce... Thanks!

Bruce Lee hatched yesterday. A surprise egg in with bantam chocolate orps. We are enamored.

Love the name! What a great surprise.

How about the name "Feather Foot Farm"? Not sure if it is already taken. As far as antibiotics- try Amoxicillin, 100mg in 1 cup of drinking water, change daily. Do this for 6 days. It saved my cochin hen.
I like that name!

Might be a good idea. I love those feather footed breeds.

Thank you for the advice on the Amoxicillin. I'll save that in my notes for future reference. Luckily, my birds are back to normal and good health now.
