Could someone please refresh my memory, I can't get on to the genetics mixer page, Splash over Black=? I just got a pair of splash for my blacks and forgot what they produce... Thanks!
Splash over black will make blue, if your black is not dominant.

SUPER....I have been looking in New York State. Where are yours coming from?JUST ORDERED MY FIRST SILKIES!!! SHOULD BE HERE AT THE END OF THE MONTH![]()
I never had luck leaving them in the coop, always pull one of my broody girls and section of an area large enough in my porch and let my broody girl raise them for a few weeks![]()
none are hatching. I gave her the EE egg cause she just kept trying to hatch eggs wouldn't give up. My daughter has some eggs in a homemade incubator out of a ice chest. I will be surprised if any hatch but if they do the lonely peep will get siblings. I have two Buff Orpingtons chicks I got from Coastal in the house but they are a lot bigger then this little peep and I don't know if they would be nice to the little guy. So cute!I actually live on Oklahoma. I ordered my Barred Rocks from a Hatchery here in OK but they don't have Silkies. I ended up ordering my Silkies from Ideal Hatchery in Texas. I've heard lots of good things about them!SUPER....I have been looking in New York State. Where are yours coming from?
Do you know anyone in New York State that raises and sells Silkies. Thanks Aria
Very pretty!
The chick will likely be fine. My roos are great with chicks, but the broodies can be really mean and deadly to rest of the flock especially juveniles. I have heard of roos killing chicks. So that is another risk.My broody Silkie Hatched out a EE chick and I decided to let them raise it, hoping nothing will happen. I just didn't have the heart to take it from them. I have two hens looking after it. Do you think the Rooster will be nice to it? I put food and water right by the nest in the coop do you think it will eat and find the food ok, I worry about the litte guy.
When mine get real quiet like that, I trim around their eyes. Often they can't see well so they just sit around.
All blue.Could someone please refresh my memory, I can't get on to the genetics mixer page, Splash over Black=? I just got a pair of splash for my blacks and forgot what they produce... Thanks!
I can't tell what the actual coloring is here. Looks red in one picture and more golden in the other. Males start getting a lot of red on their wings at about 9 weeks.

All blue.
The way the Blue gene works in a breeding can be broken down as follows:
1) Blue x Blue: This will produce 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash.
2) Black x Blue: Produces 50% black and 50% blue.
3) Black x Splash: You'll get 100% blue.
4) Blue x Splash: Produces 50% blue and 50% splash.
5) Splash x Splash: This will give you 100% Splash.
6) Black x black: 100% black
