Silkie thread!

The picture on top is from today ad the picture on with my son is from a few weeks ago. The large eggs are from my barred rock and are there to show the size and color difference. The lighter egg is from my partridge silkie Apri now I'm guessing that the hen lays the same colored egg? Which would mean that the egg I found today could be from my other white silkie Bernadette?

You can tell who is laying by looking at their vents. Non-laying pullets have small vents and a laying bird will have a large vent. One bird can lay eggs of different shades

I hope he feels better in the morning because he's not looking his best. Even the little white pullet looks better than he does. lol She's going to a new home so I gave her a bath too while I had all the bathing equipment out.

Wish us luck!

In my hatcher, I use strawberry containers (plastic with lots of holes) and I put a folded up paper towel in the bottom, a piece of burlap on top of that, and then the eggs with plenty of room for hatching. This provides good traction for their little feet, plenty of absorption to help them dry off, and good air circulation as well.
I have looked everywhere for those strawberry baskets. Can you get them without buying strawberries?
