Silkie thread!

Well... looks like I am going to have to cull Nori

I can't get the egg to budge, it is wrapped inside the ovaduct membrane once again. We worked at it for a few hours with no luck, just prolapsing. I can't even feel the egg shell when I palpate inside her ovaduct, just the egg wrapped in membrane. I need to put her out of her suffering.... I can't even do it myself... she is my baby and I need someone else to do it for me. My friend has a CO2 chamber at her work. I might use that.
I am so sorry!! I am so sad for you. Sending hugs your way :*(

This little chick is about 5 weeks old. Her father is a buff and her mother is white. What is the likelihood she'll stay light yellow like she is now, or is she more likely to turn more buff or more white as she gets older?

Thanks!

We have one fertile egg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no stinkin way! woooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard success last week, despite all the times I see him try and fail. so we have one veining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My silkies are supposed to be shipping tomorrow!!! And they are shipping from a hatchery that is around 3 hours away, so I am hoping to get my hands on them tomorrow!!!!!!
Have fun! They will melt your heart!

While I'm posting pictures today, anyone want to guess gender? This is one of 2 chicks I hatched from my blue roo that died, its the only one I kept. I was hoping for a cockerel, so naturally, it looks like a pullet to me

Sorry about the dirty face, I think they use the fermented feed as hair product. Yuck!

Wow I am so far behind on this thread I havent been on in forever. Ive prob missed lots. I was actually wondering if anyone knows the answer, I have 2 chicks now about 14 weeks old and Im pretty sure I have a pullet and a roo(not positive at all thoug) Ill post pics soon maybe someone will have an idea.

Anyhow the question
One is a splash the other porcelain(catdance silkies) if they are bred together will a specific color result or will they create a mash of different colored offspring?
Not a good color cross. I would suggest getting another set of eggs.
Lost another chick, this time to what we think was a fox. Pulled it right through the fence.

For some reason the babies were sleeping outside in the run next to the fence instead of inside the dogloo last night. I only have 2 left now. They're looking very nice, I just wish I had the others still with them. Letting my Anatolian sleep by the silkie pen tonight. I DARE the fox to touch my original girls.

Raccoons are the worst about reaching through the fence with their little hands. So sorry....

I will try to get some tomorrow. They are 4 weeks old and in their funky stage but the colors are spectacular!
I live within a 3 hr, drive of Catdancesilkies, and I want to get more of course!!! I'm trying to decide if I want to try for all ready decided sex, color ones (part grown) or to hatch my own. I would pick them up either way. What do you all think?
