Really!?!? I sure hope not. My kids are gonna be really bummed. The silkies and my one OE pullet hang out with my Japanese bantam rooster(they are all being housed in my garage at the moment), he doesnt seem to mind them so I though maybe that meant they were girls. I guess time will tell.

Yup. Their combs are both fairly large to be girls. Prim is definitely a boy, He is getting a walnut comb. Bobo's comb is really red too. Does he has wry tail as well? The picture looks like his tail is off to the side?

Hello from a newbie and these are my first silkie and I hatched.

I hatched three and was wondering your opinions on sexes? They are 13 weeks old today along with the buff brahmas in the one pic.

Here are the first two. One white that I think is female as her fluff on her head is pretty round. And also she just carries herself different than the other two.

Second one is a ??? color when a chick he was brownish with stripes on its back and the back of its head and I felt he was going to be a partridge. He looks more blue but does have a little browns on his back?

This is the three together the middle is the third and is shaped like the dark one and fluff on his head is sort of spikey like the dark one.

I would appreciate any opinions on sex and color of the blue one? They were suppose to be from SQ line.

I would like to get more but cannot get a hold of the guy I got them from.

Love the video. I never knew my hens crowed until they went broody and I separated them from the flock. I put the broodies on my back porch. So when I heard crowing coming from the back porch I knew it could only be the hen. I have also had 2 chicks that started crowing at 1 week old. Has anyone else had this? It was really cute. Little pip squeak cock-a-doodle-do. I saw them do it and they did the stance just like a full grown dropping their head forward and everything.

I really want a hen that crows...I think it's adorable. I've had hens with impressive spurs, but no crowers yet. I guess my roos crow too much to let them have a chance

Well... it looks like 2 losses this week

Just candled the egg in a steam room, a little less than half the egg is still empty, the other half is completely black and the edges are abrupt, like a blood pool =( I will give it another day, but there is no movement, no noise, no piping, nothing =( But, I have two mille fleur de uccle babies waiting for me, so I guess it's okay. I will just try again another time. Looks like my friend's chick is a roo too so she's bummed, but she is going to keep it until it crows. Then I will take it for her. Maybe once Ice starts laying I will hatch some eggs from the two =) Pamela it looks like Yoshi! It's the most adorable little snowball with a giant chest!

I was wondering if anyone had any spraddle experience. I have a splash chick that is almost 3 weeks old. we have been trying different measures to attempt to correct his issue, now only one leg stocks out to the side. He is currently on coffee mug and rubber band therapy. He eats and drinks fine and scuttles aboutusig his wing occasionally as a brace. Has anyone successfully kept a spraddle chick as a house chicken? I love my little Truman.

will he always be able to get around well? Is there an apparatus I can get for him.to make his life easier? Would a large dog kennel in the house and supervised outside time work?

Bantam roosters in one pen?

They usually do well if they are raised together. I haven't had success if they aren't unless one is very young and not breeding yet.

He was light and dark gray when I got him and reminded me of the little penguin on Happy Feet. I've been hoping its a girl, but I'm so used to saying him. lol. Would you call her/him a gray??

The top one is very likely a boy because of the redish cast to the comb. The other one is very likely a boy because of the large size of comb at such an early age. Sorry....
