Silkie thread!

I seen that post I've looked at it a thousand times already pacing by the incubator lol. I figured it was too early I'm probably just being paranoid I didn't worry this much when I was having kids geez these lil fluff balls are going to be the death of me

I just got a 4 new babies

and one is a SIZZLE! She is so cute

now does anyone know if she is considered just a frizzle or a sizzle? She has black skin, 5 toes and feathered feet. I want to show her, but someone clipped one of her wings. Anyone have any tips? Can they be plucked or do I have to wait for her to molt?

These are some of my silkies. The rooster and one hen I have two other hens i will get more pictures tomm.The first picture is one a hatched from them.

While my silkies were stealing worms from my treat box, I notice their wings look different from each other. Does this mean they are a boy and girl?

I am looking at getting some silkie chicks this weekend to go with my cochins. Before I get invested emotionally I wanted to ask you all about something someone had said to me. Are the white silkies the only "real" silkies? I am partial to the buffs but if I ever decide to show in the future I want to make as little mistakes as possible now.

I have brought home 10 Silkies this week. I now have a blue hen, a splash hen, a black hen, a blue rooster, two buff hens, a partridge hen, a red colored rooster, a white hen, and a white rooster (he is a cross and I may have a home for him). Now I just need fertile eggs to hatch.

No right now all my chick are getting a chick starter crumble. They are still managing to sand behind someone at the moment they have to poo .

I bred my white hen to a blue showgirl to see what color genes she has, but every chick has been white!!!! 2 showgirls, and 3 normal silkies. So far I've been told she could be a dominant white or she could be resesive and he could be split to white?

Oh, the first time I used the incubator I paced like mad also.

Then when they finally started hatching, I ended up with one weak self-blue chick and I was freaking out because I wasn't sure what I could do to help the chick. But by day 3 or 4 it was looking normal. I think it just needed some time to grow and get stronger.

You'll be a nervous wreck when you start with lock down.

Cute! I don't know anything about the frizzles and sizzles. For some reason, I would imagine that a sizzle would have some of the silkie-like features? These frizzle/sizzle/frilkie things confuse me.

They look mostly blue to me. The one in the front, back against the camera, does it have faint stripes on it's back? I'm not sure if I'm just seeing things or if there really are stripes. That one could be a self-blue. Hard for me to tell.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "real" silkie. They're all real and they're all silkies.

The white is the most common color, that and the black, I think.
It all depends on what you want to do with your birds. If you want to have them as pets, pick whatever color you want! Doesn't matter what they look like when they're pets. For showing, find any color bird that's a good quality individual. Buffs are nice. If you decide to do breeding, definitely get some quality stock. I'm trying breeding first time this year. Last year I ordered some hatching eggs and only kept the best individuals to breed. I can't wait to see what I get!
