Silkie thread!

Snow, Ice, and their brood

Out for babies first free range haha, accidentally, the little sneaks snuck out behind me!

We had a downpour that lasted about 10 minutes in which we got a half inch of rain yesterday. The silkies were out, of course, while we were gone for a bit, and a few got soaked but loved it. This is one of my 3 month old chicks.

On a much less humorous note, my very favorite girl, the one in my avatar, is missing. Haven't seen her in 2 days. No trace of an attack, but I fear that's what happened.

She may have gone broody? My friends hens do that all the time.

I got to see my chick tonight! yeah! She's definitely a blue. her fuzz coloring is almost white, but I can see the wing feathers starting to grow, and they're a blue color. WOOP WOOP!

Does anyone on here have blue.splash, or black hatching eggs? Approximately 6?

I'm worried that I don't have enough blood lines going on. The chicks that I'm hatching are all from my splash mom and black roo, which come from the same breeder. And many aren't making it. :( I think perhaps I need more blood lines. I have a splash roo, but he's always on the brink of illness. I keep getting him well, and then he regresses again. I've lost every single silkie I got from this one lady. I've had zero trouble with any of the others that I got from other breeders. SO weird!

maybe the fertility is bad ?? or they were inbred for many years either or but i would go with bad fertility but im not sure i hope all goes well with you ... where do you live (what country)
they grow and then they don't hatch out! and one grew and took forever to hatch out and then died. so far only 1 hatched and is kicking.

USA

then i have no clue what is wrong then it must be from the breeder because everything pretty much passes through genes .. well if you lived closer i know a breeder and he is really good and my friend knows him he has really nice silkies all different colors and his silkies always wins at the shows first place no one can beat him and he has amazing silkies i think white is his best silkies im not sure .. aoxa would know more about his birds then me she knew him longer then i did .. and i raise silkies but i only have a silver partridge rooster he carries the partridge gene to and a black hen she carries the partridge color gene to and she can make white silkies to and then i have a buff based partridge based rooster and then a blue hen
