Silkie thread!

Thank y'all soo much for your advice and sympathy I really appreciate it more than yall know. She is about to dye any second and I am in the other room for now while my hubby waits until it is certain. Not sure if I will get another. I've had soo many turn out to be roosters after getting attached and two die. I might just keep the three healthy big ones I have a move on with taking care of them. I REALLY wanted a silkie though.. But I don't know of anyone that will sell me just one silkie :(

The worst part is knowing there is nothing more I can do, but I guess I should be thankful that I have other healthy chicks.

I am crossing my fingers that yours gets better too! Thank you again!

Your welcome! Just ask around. I am sure someone will. I live in ok. I have 4 adults. Where are you located?

Also if you have auction close by. Check them out. You could possibly find you one there. Or find someone who raises them in your area. That way they are grown and past the chick stage

I live all the way in Alabama. The lady I purchased this one from sells them but they go so quick! I will check to see about an auction.
You need a hen that is almost or is laying. You will have to pay more but totally wort it to me. That is how I got my showgirl Eva Gabor! I bought her as a young adult. I love her dearly and is sweet as can be. I hope you find one. Let me know

Well I'd rather have one that isn't laying yet. I have 3 chicks that are about 5 weeks old now and are doing great. I'd like the silkie to me close to that but I would take what I could get. I don't mind paying whatever, I just fell in love with the breed and now wish I would have only gotten those instead of some of the others :)

Just to update: she is still just sleeping, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Not dipping her beak in the water anymore because last time I tried she let go of her head and more of her beak went in than I had anticipated.

It's easy peasy!
I've washed my Silkies before but have never trimed beaks or toe nails. Why do you do that?

I wouldn't dip the beak in, I use a dropper and just put a drop on the side of her beak she will suck it up.
